On the Couch with Governor Sanford

I have a new piece in Politico this morning:

"An Apology and a Pledge? No thanks."

"Instead of retreating from public life to work on his marriage privately, Gov. Sanford writes of the personal victories he’s had through the process. 'I’ve been humbled and broken as never before in my life, and as a consequence, have given up areas of control in a way that I never have before. And it is my belief that this will make me a better father, husband, friend and advocate.' Well, that’s super, Gov. Sanford. But shouldn’t that sentence start, 'Dear Diary'?"

Everything SE Cupp writes about Sanford and politicians in general is true, and certainly Democrats have their own dickheads to point to. The thing about Republicans though (Sanford, Ensign et al, is the evangelical angle. It makes the hyopcrisy worse, or funnier. Hard to decide.

They need some serious national leaders. The country needs a vita, intelligent GOP , and where and who is it? And don't say the former governor of Alaska because that issimply not going to get the job done.

He's modeling his confession on that of King David after his affair. It takes guts to do this.

“ hypocrisy” am I missing something. When ever did a demo call for the resignation of a Kennedy, a Hart, a Barney, or a Clinton ??? But jump at the chance to recall a republican. They are the protector of gay rights but chastise a Foley or a Craig. Hypocrisy???? … How bout the biggest hypocritical crime ever perpetrated on mankind…. Imprisoning black folks in inner city ghettos feeding them bones and crumbs for the purpose of garnering votes only.

Yeah, you're missing something. Bible thumping turds and clowns, telling other people how to live who to marry yet they can't keep their own tiny peckers in their pants.

That stuff will always be hilarious. Some scumbag with a Bible or clerical collar sermonizing others while he's porking his secretary or the head deacon or Sister whoever. We love that. That's American as apple pie. Scarlet Letter time!

As for imprisoning people in ghettos, it was Democrats who did that? All I recall about party idenification with that subject was the failed Hollywood actor who became President, Ronald Reagan, who said, "You see one ghetto, you've seen them all." He was the same guy who classed ketchup as a vegetable for school lunches for children of poverty. They could mop up the extra ketchup with their breadcrumbs. Yum. And good for you too.

you should read what I wrote.

There is no differance being a hypocrit and chastising others and then protect your own for th esame activety. None.

Anon -- your post was badly written but couild be undertstood.

The original comment said there were skunks and jerks in both parties. And yeah, they should all be called out by their parties, dsicplined, walk the plank, whatever.

My comment was about the ADDED hypocrisy when one is socially conservative/religious and busy sticking ones moralistic nose in they neighbors business. When someone like that messes up, it doubles the fun.RI

These tales are all over American literature but probably you don't read.

‘All I could find on the subject of keeping the poor in ghettos was Reagan’s quote ‘ see one ghetto you see them all…. Give me a link to where he was supposed to have said that and the reasons he said it.

Probably good idea to read about how they got there in the first place. Also about how the left were always reluctant (for 50 years) to nationalize assistance because it may keep poor folks down on the farm instead of cattle pens where they are easy targets for slaughter. Demos motto ‘ take away the fishing hole and give em a basket of fish once in a while. Soon they’ll be needing that fish to survive. In turn Demos survival also depends on that basket of fish ,,,

As far as Hypocrisy. Hypocrisy comes in all shapes and forms. Is there not Demos that have moral values…is there Demos that have no moral values? Who are ‘all the republicans that thump the bible? Are there not thousands that find Sanford reprehensible? And what’s the big deal …his wife knew about it before anyone …so he hid nothing….I lean towards him having a legitimate love twist and probably by mutual agreement decided to end it. Sex is sex, love or infatuation is a chemical thing. Phenyl ethylamine is a very powerful chemical reaction that can’t be turned on and off by morality. If he legitimately fell in love I would say its not the first time in history a married man fell in love. I guess the lefts meaning of hypocrisy is …if we forgive Sanford then we should forgive teddy for driving his” love life “off the Chappaquiddick bridge eh? Then we wouldn’t be “hypocrites”

" failed hollywood actor"???? yeah, boy wsa he a failure
